Our team managed to win the pub quiz last night! Great fun was had by all as usual and our thanks must go the the quizmaster for keeping us entertained each month.

Consolation Prize

It was that time of the month again - The Pub Quiz. My brother, who lives in Australia joined the ranks of our team "The Street Walkers". Nine teams fronted up for a very raucous evening - Aidan, the Quizmaster, was at his very best. We came a creditable 5th (I think) due to Aidan getting his knickers in a twist. However we did win a prize of some mince pies (thanks Aidan) for two reasons - we attended each quiz over the past year and also, I am sad to say, that last night were the oldest team by a country mile!

Monday night was the pub quiz night but we could only muster three of our team. (Husband is useless at film and pop music questions so drowned his sorrows in a large glass of red wine). The really good thing about coming last is that there is a booby prize and this month it was a large collection of film dvds - the freebie ones that arrive in the newspapers. So next month we will have no excuse - we should be able to answer some of the film questions. (I doubt it!)

Quirky Quiz Questions

The first monday of the month is quiz night at the local pub - 13 teams turned up - the quizmaster must be pleased with the turnout. Sadly for our team made up of "oldies" we find the film, pop music and TV questions beyond us. In our young day there was no TV - that shows how old we are - our team agreed that "ancient history" questions would suit us fine! We remind ourselves that we must try and win the booby prize - but we fail there as well. On one occasion we would have won the booby prize but I cheated and at half time asked a young innocent bystander who was enjoying a quiet drink at the bar (not generally quiet in our pub during the quiz) to fill in some of the pop music questions. Serve me right as we missed out coming last and would have won highlighter pens!

We all enjoy ourselves thoroughly and have a really good laugh - quizmaster, you better have some really good booby prizes next month - we really will try very hard to come last!

Who is Quizzing Who?

Another poor showing by our team at our monthly pub quiz - we came 3rd out of seven teams. The last batch of questions required the answer True or False. The Quizmaster got his knickers in a twist and offered us Question 46 instead of 45 and so on and so on. Of course it was only a 50% chance to get it right or wrong - that is our excuse anyway!!

Pub Quiz Night - not good!

This photo is a calming one - after a hectic night at the local competing in the quiz. 'The Kitchen Gardeners' team were awful - we came second to last. Wrinkly type teams cannot possibly know what Garfield's teddy was called - can they? We had never heard of the Gummy Bears. If you come last you win a bottle of wine and we could not even manage that - we would have done if we had not cheated and sidled up to a young bystander who wrote down some music answers for us! So next time we will not cheat - well - perhaps not!
