Marmalade Crazy

Husband simply loves making marmalade. I am not so sure. The kitchen turns into a sticky mess. Husband collects old Red Current Jelly jars, Tomato Chutney jars, damson jam jars etc etc but we do not soak off the labels. It gets quite confusing to open a jar of chutney to find Husband's marmalade instead! This year Husband has made four batches , two of which worked very well, the other two batches have not set properly. Consequently the kitchen is festooned with marmalade jars (sticky) waiting to"set". Husband is convinced they will set!! I shall wait until Husband is out of the house playing tennis and stick the marmalade into a pot and reboil it all. But. . . . . . . . . . . not today, it is our 38th wedding anniversary and we are going out to lunch!

Super Congratulations for your Anniversary, I hope you had a wonderful celebration.

My dear Dad makes great lime marmalade - except for the time he grabbed the wrong jar from the fridge, finishing the "marmajam" with crushed garlic instead of ginger!

The word verification gives an apt description of the result - "excruseli"

Congratulations on your wedding anniversary - hope you enjoyed your lunch. I saw some Seville oranges on sale yesterday and gave marmalade a thought but that was as far as it got. A

Happy Anniversary. Perhaps the marmalade can simply be used a syrup for pancakes. My dad makes wonderful lemon butter -- not sure if that counts as marmelade though.

Yes, Happy Anniversary.

Marmalade - 26lbs on the pantry shelf - more than enough for one year.

Do love making it though - all that sunny oranginess at the bleakest part of the year and the house imbued with sugary citrus smells. bliss.
