Owning a pair of wonky knees I haveto be very careful about distances! When in familiar territory I am fine - I know how far it is to walk where I wish to go. Not so on holiday! We arrived at Yarmouth, Isle of Wight and Husband said we must make a diversion to see The Needles. We arrived at designated car park to find it was quite a long walk (in my opinion). Husband said "Oh no - not far, we will only be walking about ten minutes". I should have known better. Husband has no such wonky knees and has never wielded a pair of crutches only thinks in his terms. We slogged up the hill in glorious hot sunshine, but it took half an hour!! As you can see from the photo we made it to the top!
Throughout the 4 day holiday I also managed walking round a 6 hole golf course twice, a 9 hole golf course, two stretches of beaches and other small forays. Knees are now boiling hot, I shall not give up and now back home again I am off swimming this morning!!

Ouch!!! I can fully sympathise with you. My Hubby is the same. 'It's only....." and one ends up going miles.
Good for you sticking it out, I hope the swimming exercises give some relief soon.
Mind you, a lovely spot for a holiday, the photo is great.
Love Granny
That is a stunning photo!!
'Boiling knees' doesn't sound very pleasant!! I hope the swimming helps

For us it's the other way round..he can walk only slowly..well, by my standards...and is wobbly, so we have to have to measure out what is realistic before we set out, but, as you say, when you are on holiday and there are tempting things to see it's so easy to be too ambitious.
Hope the swimming helps, and good for you for not being defeated.
Poor you! Sounds ouchy......looks like you got a holiday in at any rate. Something I'd like to do sometime:)
I at my tenderly young age not long had my second total knee replacement...... so, I feel for you..... I to have 2 wobbly crap knees with many complications......
You should of waved at me from the Needles across the Solent, and I might of stood on the top of Portsdown Hill at the back of Portsmouth and waved back at you :).... I hope you enjoyed your visit to our South Coast.....

Marmite Toasty - sympathise with the knees problem - same as me. One kneecap smashed into 60 pieces when I was 17. Have had many ops and replacement knees - but still not good! Apparently it is the one condition the orthopods find difficult to treat.
Oh dear! How about a nice ice pack for the knees? Photos are beautiful, though!
