I Have Been Using The Giraffe Method

I have damaged left elbow and forearm by taking a short cut to the floor! This is not so daft as it seems. To reach the floor my wonky knees have to be straight so I start off like a giraffe and inch my hands along floor and then do reverse press-up. It was at the reverse press up stage that, why I do not know, I suddenly decided to roll to the left to get to the floor quicker. I have been using the "giraffe" method since aged 17 so I should have followed the old routine. I now have a useless left arm and to make matters worse I am left-handed. I am like a wounded bird. I cannot use my crutches, cannot swim, cannot do the washing-up (good). I have an emergency appointment with the physio (used to be Gloucester rugby physio) tonight - he is very good at trauma injuries due to the rugby side of things. I hope the treatment does not involve a ruck, maul, scrum or touch down - but I will "try" to get better soon! Every cloud has a silver lining - I have been forced to use stick instead of crutches and managed to walk around playing fields with stick tucked under my arm only touching it down on the pavement there and back. Thank goodness we have Sky Sports - I shall watch the Monte Carlo Masters tennis today!

Oh dear, I am sorry. Its one darned thing after another. Hope the damage is not too bad and stay away from rugby, I should!

Who's a silly girl! I too have a habit of taking 'short cuts' that end up bering 'long cuts' - you would think we would have learned by now.
I hope the physio can wave his wand and put you right as soon as possible. In the meantime I shall pray for rain so you don't feel quite so frustrated at being indoors.

Sending healing vibes for a speedy recovery. It is SO infuriating when that happens. Good excuse not to do washing up, but boring in other respects. Take care - have you tried being a water buffalo instead of a Giraffe for awhile?

Whoops-a-daisy!
Sorry to read about the fall. Hope you are soon mended, doing a Humpty-Dumpty were you?

Maggie - would have loved to have played rugby - watch it on TV!

SS - Physio disgnosed "Golfer's elbow". Wish I could participate and not just walk round! Have pulled the muscles and tendons that are attached to the elbow. If lucky will take about 3 weeks. Lots of ice, rest ??? and massage to keep it from "shortening" as it heals. A real bore!

SJA - Sense of humour is most important otherwise ones can get very fed up!

Sian - I think a hippo landing might be the answer.

Granny - Thanks for comment

Suburbia - Husband is pleased that the mouse plus mat is on the right side of the computer for the time being!

Oh Lindsay, you've done it properly m'dear. An extreme method to avoid doing the dishes.

At least no broken bones. I hope you heal quickly.

Wow - you are very flexible.

Care and gentle huggles from Mickle and a purry Zebbycat

The "giraffe" position conjures up wonderful images!!! Do hope your arm is feeling better and glad your sense of humour remains on top form.

Poor you. Hope it heals quickly and isn't painful for too long. You have my complete sympathy as I've done something bizarre to a shoulder muscle!

I hardly knew what to expect when I read the title of your post!

Sorry to hear it's going to take so long to heal and hope you've been able to enjoy some of this glorious weather.

Take care of yourself Lindsay.

Thanks all for comments. Elbow has done much better that expected. I shall be giving it a testing tonight when I shall be yomping around the golf course accompanying Husband and his three friends.
