Anyone who reads this blog regularly will remember we had a burst water main just outside our house which flooded the road. The water pipes in this rural area are very ropey indeed! Today the Water Board are back to fit a fire hydrant which was omitted in the last outburst. We feel this is a good thing as these four new houses are timber framed! Despite traffic lights and cones in the road some people driving cars are whizzing by and every so often I hear shouts and curses from the men as they get sprayed by water - I ask myself why don't they turn the mains water off?
The fire hydrant is that blue object between the two men who are posing nicely for my camera shot!?

Two happy workers! Very kind of them to oblige.
I've never heard of a 'blue' fire hydrant.
Aren't they meant to be red!
Rockwallaby - the fire hydrant in the photo was sunk into the road and covered with a metal plate. The plate can be opened with special keys that the water and fire services have in their possession. It is not the kind of fire hydrant that Tiger Woods is supposed to have crashed into with wife in pursuit brandishing a golf club!!!!
HA! That pic is funny! I just started following your blog. It's pretty cool!
