Colourful Compost

The heavy rain overnight melted almost all the snow and left the landscape looking rather drab and bedraggled - all except for the compost heap which is a riot of colour!

Sorry I'm Late !

These are the words the paperboy said to us this morning! The time was 7.50am - normally he delivers the papers between 7am-7.30am. There has been another snowfall overnight and the snow is still throwing it down - the paperboy in his high viz jacket is the only person making tracks at the moment. Three cheers for the paperboy!

Hello There!

Crunchy Crunchy!

Last night the temperature dropped to minus 8.8C and another day below freezing is forecast. In compensation we have a chocolate box blue sky and sunshine. I took a walk in the fields listening to the sound of the snow crunching beneath my (large) feet - I love that sound! My second best sound is of horses contentedly munching hay!

We have introduced a bird ground feeder tray and the blackbirds love it! Today it is filled with the remains of the apple crumble we shared with our neighbours yesterday.

These two photos are taken through the kitchen window so are not the best!

Calm Before The Storm

Yesterday I managed to walk around the field behind our house - good for taking photos. Today however we have such a heavy blanket of snow that the landscape seems to be blotted out. I would simply love to reach an alternative area to photograph but transport by crutches restricts me. Very few villagers ventured out by car. We received a cheery call from the neighbours and we joined forces and pooled our resources for lunch - we hastily baked an apple crumble!

Australia talks Perspiration, UK talks Refridgeration

These photos taken from our bedroom windows are for my brother, Jamie and fellow blogger, Rockwallaby, who are sweltering in the heat down under in OZ.

It had only been snowing for 15 minutes when I grabbed the camera. I am stuck inside - too slippery to get really good photos outside!

Freezing Day

I am a keen weather watcher and today has been a "freezing day". The highest temperature was minus 1.5C. I have been able to walk over the fields but not on the roads or pavements due to slippery conditions - I think we may get more snow overnight.
