Getting The Hang Of It

Husband is not a very good DIY-er at the best of times - he would be the first to admit it - so I am not being unkind (am I?).

After one picture fell off the wall about 10 days ago - smashed glass everywhere etc - we thought "Oh Well".

Yesterday evening whilst us old wrinklies were sitting with our feet up watching TV there was an almighty crash in the hall. Another picture had flung itself off the wall.

Husband has spent the morning replacing all picture hooks with "self exploding" screws. Our house has these thin plasterboard walls and we were very careful to use the right picture hooks. We conclude that the house has dried out and the pinholes have enlarged over the past two years. I came home from my usual swim to find Husband had just finished the job so I gave him a pat on the back (then suggested he made us some lunch) (no not really!!!).

Self exploding screws? They could make a really big noise when they come out of the wall then!!

We lived in a house like that for a short while - too briefly to hang anything on the walls. They were no more substantial than plasterboard - we learned this when the neighbour's (wine filled) corner cupboard fell off the wall in the small hours. We did wonder at the time why they had the mop and bucket out at 2.00 in the morning.

Self-exploding screws aka cavity wall fixings???

I hate it when that happens...I have relatives form jolly old england, I'm thinking about a write up and some dated pics. I have the pic of Taz up on my site with some other cuties from the pet challenge.
Have a great day and a cup of tea for me...Ed

Are you having mini earthquakes? LOL
Self exploding screws! That sounds new! Hanging things onto plaster board seems to be the hardest thing of all.

I love the idea of self exploding screws! And the idea that after putting up pictures he could make lunch seems pretty good to me.

At least he is trying - our hall is still waiting to be finished after 2 years.
