In a previous post I commented on the state of our verge. Our house butts up right to the wall and despite all enquiries to Parish Council, Water Board and Highways Department nothing has been done, they pass the buck between each other. Husband and I decided we would buy these plastic verge markers - we thought it would be a back-breaking job digging holes etc but it was not too bad. Our neighbour lent us a "spit" and a "spike" to help with the digging and away we went. We have also dug in a recycled luminous marker I found in a ditch - this marks where the water meter is placed as a reminder to the local tractor driver who rather than slow down when a car is coming the other way prefers to drive over our verge. It may be that other residents will complain to the Parish Council - in a way I hope they do as the issue will then be sorted out with the Highways Department perhaps putting in kerb stones.
Just another rant (if you can bear reading it) verge markers have to be made of plastic so that if cars run into them no damage is done to the car. I say b*****cks to the cars and their careless drivers - what about our house? I do not go driving on verges, I slow down if another car approaches me in a narrow lane - nowadays it is all hurry hurry hurry. OK OK I have finished now!

Can't believe you had to put them in yourself! Least now drivers will get the picture and stop driving all over your verge!
So that's why they're plastic! I had no idea.
I hope this does the trick or finally prompts the right authority into doing something. At my younger daughter's school, stupid inconsiderate people (usually mothers I'm ashamed to say) park on verges and churn them up like a mud bath. Why they can't park up the road and walk, is beyond me.
Chapati - Yes and pay for them ourselves!
Lane - We have a primary school in this village - it is so popular that children come from near and far. We have three chicanes to stop the traffic speed - and yes the mums try to park within them!
Hello Lindsay
Looks like you've had a bit of rain. Hope you have better luck with this lot lol
Are they the bendy type - if so I wonder how long it is before you find them bent doouble with tyre marks all over them??
Take care
Cathy
Rants are good for you!!! They look ok anyway, not an eyesore .
You every right to rant and rage. Hope they are a success - hey, they dont look like plastic.
And that is a fine stone wall you have. Definately worth protecting.
Care and huggles, keep warm
They do not look plastic Lindsay. Hope it solves your kerbside problems but how frustrating that you had to resolve the situation yourselves. Probably less so than waiting for local authority to do something!
Love your bollards! Oo sounds a bit cheeky that - I must be feeling better! Hope they work - I agree no-one seems to care about other people's property these days. Now I sound like an old grump and I am usually a positive person. Good luck anyway!
Nice Verge...and I also love the smell of freshly plowed earth and when it eaind in the desert and the smell of creosote bushes permeate the air, aaahhhh mempries..:-)
Hi, thanks for visiting our site. I enjoyed reading your posts and will come again. How did you find us? Tj
Hi I happened upon your blog from just hopping along LOL. I love the photo of your countryside. When we visited Wigan two years ago we saw how close to the roads the houses and how fast those drivers flew by them. Boy I was lucky I didn't get run over as I was not used to looking the other way for cars coming. We had an amazing time in London etc. Beautiful and the Lamb was to die for. LOL Hugs
I just have to say I was amazed at how green your grass is, it looks so healthy........when I look out of the window all we see is snow {{SOB, SOB}}

Verging on the ridiculous if you ask me (not that you would)! Now you can sit back and watch all the neighbourhood dogs discolouring the greenery. I have taken the liberty to use MH's blog to respond to your suggestion that I know zip about pelvic floors.
Pip Pip!
Thanks all for your comments. Since the installation of the verge markers, traffic has had to slow down.
It is good to rant Lindsay. There is a very good post by Lakeland Jo about how the UK has gone mad - overrun by red tape and bureaucrats. I urge everyone to read it! Hx
