This is the work of a sole mole (not a vole) who achieved its goal within one hour! This wretched little rodent has been tunelling vigorously in and around the field adjacent to our garden. Yesterday there was no molehill in our garden - I looked outside an hour later and there was this volcano of earth. Husband suggest that I (note not him) should go out and spear the ground with the garden fork to see if we could harpoon the little chap. Note for animal lovers - no success!

I know how you feel, we are blighted with voles, and every year after all the snow has melted, they have dug numerous motorways all over our grass, it is so frustrating.

You know, I'm sure this mole must be related to my Puma, I found a huge hole near the garden fence the other day ....
I'm more worried by the look of the long grass - please ensure that the place is well manicured by the time I arrive in just 3 weeks. Tell that husband of yours to husband the garden and not worry about you making mountains out of ..well, you know.

The soil they dig up is great for potting though!
I have heard of moles, but have never seen one or what they do.

Earlier this year we seemed to have a problem with moles around the compost heap at the end of our garden. Since they found that they could not burrow their way into the greenhouse they seem to have disappeared.
Now I have written that they will probably be back tomorrow!
I think it's worth getting a mole-man in. I do have a sonic scarer but traps, brutal though they are, work better.

Thanks for comments - 'getting a mole man in' sounds rather exciting - he will probably come dressed in moleskins. So far our plan of leaving Mr Mole's hill alone is working - instead of battering it down and spreading the earth around - we think we have left him the air that he needs.
Ahhhh....I have two Jack Russell Terriers....who would be more than happy to help you out.
