Hot and Cold

Actually, no, it has turned out horrid! Us weather buffs are looking towards next week when the UK might get a dumping of snow. I like snow and rush off to take photos hoping that one will be good enough to turn into this year's christmas card. My brother in Australia meanwhile is suffering one of the hottest heatwaves to hit the Melbourne area. Hot or Cold which to do you like?

When cold, one can put on a wooly sweater, sit by a roaring fire, drink a hot toddy and love every minute.

In a heatwave such as Melbourne has now, one just melts.

I used to like cold - you just stick another layer on and it's fine.

When too hot there isn't an awful lot you can do.

Then I started work.

The AC is on ALL the time, and it doesn't work very well. The office is always too cold. Layering up doens't really help because business casual clothes aren't the warmest on the planet.

So now I like the hot.

I moan about the cold, as it strikes my old bones rather a lot these days, but I wouldn't like to live somewhere as hot as Australia is at the moment, no respite from it is there? day in and day out. At least here I can wrap up in an extra layer here in the UK in the worst of the winter and look forward to spring and summer and autumn... not bad 3 out of 4!

The temperature in Melbourne yesterday got up to 45C (113F) when Matron & I went to the tennis and witnessed that incredible match between Nadal & Verdasco. Until soundly put right by my sons, I'd always thought his name was Tobasco which just about sums up the heat generated both off and on the court! Give me some of your forecast snow showers, please!

Looking forward to some snow for photos, like you. Having said that, I promptly feel guilty because I know ours will disappear a few hours later whereas folk over in parts of the US have had weeks of it.
I guess at the end of the day we just have to find ways of enjoying what we're given.

Full sympathy for your Brother. Here in Wellington it wont drop below 19 degrees C tonight which is too warm for comfortable sleeping for me. He must be melting.

I so agree with VioletSky - when it is cold you can always put on more layers, or in my case snuggle up to the cat.

Looking forward to your snow shots.

Spoke to son in Adelaide yesterday and they are coping with the intense heat. They live in the Adelaide Hills so it is slightly cooler there than in the city. I was there last year this time and would have struggled in such temperatures. I love warm sunshine and bright, brisk, seasonally cold days, no extremes. A

I don't like either extreme but if pushed I'd rather err on the side of heat.

Hope you get a good photo for your card:-)

Well the heat nearly finishes me off & saps all my energy, so I am useless when the temperature goes up too much.
I think that although cold is unpleasant, at least lots of layers and warm clothes can be added. So I plump for cold........ ideally 70C would be nice all the year round!

Thanks all for comments. I am disappointed as far as the snow goes here in North Wilts - we have not yet had enough to take a really good photo for my next Christmas card.
