I have a really horrible stiff neck! Swimming is very important to keep my wonky knees at least half way flexible and this wretched neck has prevented any such exercise. I am therefore very grumpy! I am off to the physio today - he has seen me through all the knee trauma in the past and understands I need to keep mobile. I think my visit will be painful? I am not looking forward to it.

Hope you get it fixed.... painful business.
I wish I could swim...... I slipped through the net at school!
Ouch! I can feel it from here .... Hope some good comes of the visit to see the physio. I used to swim for the good of my legs and then found because I wasn't a very good swimmer I was making my neck ache with holding my head back out of the water. Defeated I decided to give it all up. I now do bends and stretches.

It would make me grumpy too. Sorry about your stiff neck. Hope the therapy helps and that you will feel better soon.
Thanks all for your comments. Physio was brilliant. He slackened off my neck with a lot of pummelling, and I go back in a week. I have to lie on bed 3 times a day with heat pack and then move neck. I have to heighten my computer chair so that I look slightly down on the computer screen (am 6ft tall) and when I get back to swimming tuck my chin in!
Great that the physio has eased things up. Lying down 3 times a day with a heat pack sounds like a pleasurable treatment. Hope the neck continues to improve.

You have my sympathy too Lindsay. Have some experience of neck and lower back pain and have had physio for both. Hope it gets better soon. A
Hope the neck is improving. I am surprised that swimming is good for your knees. When I had a problem with one of my knees I was told not to swim.
Cheshire wife - swimming is Ok for knees as long as you do the crawl. I have always enjoyed swimming and manage a quick 30 lengths without stopping - any more and I get bored!
