'Mit' carved his name in a little wooden chair we bought him when he was about 5 years old. Husband and I still use words in every day speech that our son used in his childhood, including:
Bissit
Heltel
Seagirl
Hostipul
Ambulumps

It's strange how these things stick with you. Years ago, when I was a student, I had a German friend who spoke perfect English but always called a monkey puzzle tree a "puzzled monkey tree" - as I still do.
Our son's vocab has not gone beyond. "ball, ball, ball, ball, ball, ball, ball, ball, ball, ball, ball, mum, dad" yet....I think we'll remember those in years to come.....maybe he'll be an umpire or something...
